\nTuesday, January 18 we presented our adjusted course during the culture caf\u00e9. At the end of 2008 BLUESinWIJK was born from the idea to bring blues to Wijk and this turned out to be a huge success the past 2 years. We even won “the KEI of Utrecht” in the spring of 2010!<\/p>\n
The large number of friends and sponsors that support us and the enormous amount of positive reactions gave us enough confidence to continue in the coming years.<\/p>\n
We will do our very best to promote blues in Wijk even more and better by bringing TOP blues to Wijk, to give local and regional blues musicians a stage, to organize lectures, workshops and films and to warm up the youth for blues.<\/p>\n
Although we owe our success partly to the support of and the cooperation with JazzbyDuurstede, we will stop with the blues podium in the Muntstraat. From 2011 onwards we will spread our blues activities over the whole year. Every month a blues activity. This way we think we can give much more attention to the bands and visitors and continuously offer beautiful blues. Friends and sponsors will profit even more from this because of the low entrance prices and moreover our sponsors will get the chance to present themselves several times a year. Examples of this monthly spreading (summer months excepted) are blues concerts in the Calypso theatre, blues bands in pubs, a blues pub crawl in the city centre of Wijk, a blues cruise on the Lek, blues films, blues by and for youth in cooperation with (music) schools, blues workshops led by a well-known blues artist. Plenty of ideas.<\/p>\n
